Fans not convinced by Arsene Wenger’s key Arsenal transfer update, also manages to spark backlash

When Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insisted that he wants to keep Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Jack Wilshere on Tuesday, he probably expected a more positive reaction.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s meeting with Huddersfield Town at the Emirates on Wednesday night, the Frenchman provided updates on the key trio, as seen in the tweets below.

All three players will see their respective deals expire at the end of the season, and so with no new contracts set to be agreed upon imminently as we’re led to believe, the fear of losing them for nothing next summer is growing.

However, based on the comments of Wenger on Tuesday, he has no intention of selling Ozil and Sanchez in the January transfer window, while he was also adamant that he wants Wilshere to remain at the Emirates too.

Whether they all do remains to be seen, as given we’re only seven months away from their deals running down, it won’t fill Arsenal fans with too much confidence that they can be persuaded to put pen to paper.

What will surely help is Arsenal’s return to the top four this past weekend, and they’ll look to stay there between now and the end of the campaign to secure a return to the Champions League.

However, given previous false promises over players and general uncertainty at Arsenal, it appears as though rival fans and Gunners supporters aren’t entirely convinced by Wenger’s latest statements and they will wait to see if he does indeed keep all three beyond January.

Based on the tweets below, his view on Wilshere in particular has sparked a very angry reaction from the Arsenal faithful who want him to start…
