Liverpool have reportedly initiated contact over signing West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi, who is currently on loan at the club from Al Ahly.
The Egypt international has shone in his time in the Premier League so far, despite the Baggies’ struggles overall, with Leicester City also said to be interested in him, according to ESPN.
It seems Liverpool may be leading the charge for Hegazi’s signature, however, with ESPN claiming they’ve been watching the player closely and asked Al Ahly about the possibility of signing him.
There’s no doubt Jurgen Klopp could do with a centre-back like Hegazi in his ranks, with the Reds looking highly suspect at the back for much of this season so far.
Despite plenty of quality going forward, Liverpool have suffered heavy defeats to the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham, whilst also recently losing a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla in the Champions League.
The Daily Mirror also recently suggested that Liverpool could try again to sign summer target Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a bid to improve at the back.
Hegazi, however, could be considerably cheaper, with the Mirror stating that Van Dijk is valued at around £70million by the Saints.
