Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has been advised by Jose Mourinho to get himself a lucrative new boot deal to solve his recent dry spell in front of goal.
The 24-year-old started superbly for the Red Devils after his summer transfer from Everton, but has since managed just one goal in his last eleven matches for the club.
United could do with Lukaku rediscovering his scoring touch as soon as possible, which has led Mourinho to suggest a pretty desperate solution to the problem, albeit lightheartedly.

‘I think he needs a big contract with boots,’ Mourinho is quoted in the Metro.
‘At the moment, he has no contract with any brand, that is why he is wearing black boots!
‘Jokes apart, he works amazingly well for the team. I would never blame him for missing an easy chance, never. He’s an amazing professional. I couldn’t be happier with him.’
Mourinho clearly rates Lukaku’s contribution to the team despite his recent lack of goals, but after spending what BBC Sport claimed was a £75million fee on the Belgian in the summer, there’s no doubt they’ll be expecting him to up his goal count before too long.
Luckily for United, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has just returned from injury and Ashley Young has discovered an unlikely scoring streak of his own with three strikes in his last two matches, though his deflected effort against Brighton seems to have been given as an own goal.
