Manchester United star given deadline to decide on transfer to Champions League giants

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has reportedly been warned that he must seal a transfer to Real Madrid by next summer or they’ll move on to alternative targets.

The Spanish giants are also said to be ready to swoop for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and have given De Gea a clear deadline by which to decide on a move, according to Diario Gol.

United won’t want to lose a key player like De Gea, who has shown himself to be one of the best in the world in his position since he moved to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid back in 2011.

Courtois would be another fine addition for Real, however, and may be more realistic due to his current contract situation at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgium international’s current deal expires in 2019 and he recently admitted he was in no hurry to discuss terms on extending his stay until the end of this season, as quoted by the Metro.

That, however, would not give Chelsea much time to strike a deal, and would put them under pressure as Courtois would then be able to negotiate with foreign clubs in six months’ from that time.

Don Balon also recently claimed that Courtois may be leaning towards leaving the Blues as he doubts he can win the Champions League if he stays with them.
