Arsenal are reportedly in ‘constant’ talks to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, according to latest reports from Don Balon.

The Frenchman looks to be on his way out of the Bernabeu after a disappointing run of form this season, though Don Balon claim Real still want £70million for him.

Don Balon recently claimed in another report that Real believed they could get £53million for him from the Gunners, but it seems they’re now not willing to go that high.

Still, Arsene Wenger does seem set on persuading the 29-year-old to move to the Emirates Stadium as Don Balon claim ‘constant’ contact between the club and the player.

The Daily Mirror claim Alexis Sanchez is a target for PSG as he heads towards the end of his contract with Arsenal, and Wenger will be aware of the task that faces him when it comes to replacing the Chilean.

Sanchez has been one of the best attacking players in Europe in recent years, and some may question the wisdom of targeting Benzema in that position after his recent slump.

The former Lyon man has been playing at the top level for much of the last decade now and may be entering into decline as he has just two La Liga goals to his name this season.

Still, if Arsenal are after a big name to appease supporters once Sanchez most likely departs, Benzema is one of the biggest around.
