Barcelona are reportedly in talks over a deal to sign Tottenham playmaker and former Real Madrid transfer target Christian Eriksen.
Don Balon claim Barca are negotiating a move for the Denmark international, who was apparently an option for Real Madrid last summer and may be one they’ll regret missing out on.
The report claims Real opted to sign Dani Ceballos instead, but he hasn’t managed to win over manager Zinedine Zidane with his performances this season.
The Independent have also linked Eriksen with Barcelona in recent times, suggesting a deal could cost the Catalan giants as much as £100million.
Eriksen has been superb for Tottenham this season, though he perhaps hasn’t had as much influence in recent games as the side slump into a poor patch of form.
Still, the 25-year-old has long looked one of the top creative players in Europe, having taken his game to a new level under current Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Eriksen has four goals and three assists in all competitions this season, and Don Balon claim Barcelona may now view him as a better option than Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona could do with a creative player like him to come in and fill the Andres Iniesta role in their side, with the veteran Spaniard’s influence now on the wane with age.
