Video: MOTD pundit makes crucial Tottenham point on what needs to change to end poor form

Tottenham are going through a difficult period of form, and Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer believes he knows the root of their problem.

Since beating Real Madrid in the Champions League on November 1, Spurs have won just two of their last six games in all competitions.

In that time, they’ve lost the north London derby against Arsenal, lost away at Leicester City and been held to draws by West Bromwich Albion and Watford.

That in turn has seen them fall to sixth place in the Premier League table, four points adrift of the top four, and it’s certainly giving Mauricio Pochettino something to think about for arguably the first time in his tenure at the club.

Shearer believes that the solution could be very simple, as there’s no denying his argument on the fact that they’ve started too slowly in those games they’ve slipped up in, as seen in the video below on MOTD on Saturday night.

Having fallen behind to Arsenal, West Brom, Leicester and Watford, he has effectively urged them to start games quicker and it’s a fair point as with their aggressive pressing style of play and the attacking quality that they possess, we’ve seen Tottenham overrun the opposition early on in games on numerous occasions.

In turn, that will be a key area of improvement for Pochettino and his men, starting with their last Champions League group game against APOEL on Wednesday night, before they host Stoke City next weekend with a trip to Man City to look forward to on December 16.
