Antonio Conte sends message to Chelsea board amid worrying transfer speculation

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has urged his club to do what they can to tie key duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois down to new contracts amid fears over their future at Stamford Bridge.

Don Balon recently linked Hazard with a possible transfer to Real Madrid again, with the latest claim being that they could offer Gareth Bale to Chelsea as part of the deal.

Another claim by Don Balon suggested Real could turn their attention towards signing Courtois in goal due to a recent rejection from Manchester United’s David de Gea.

Courtois’ situation may be the most worrying, with the Belgian shot-stopper’s current contract due to expire in 2019, though he was recently quoted in the Metro saying he’s not going to discuss a new deal this season.

Conte is understandably keen to have this whole saga resolved as he stressed the importance of new contracts for both Hazard and Courtois.

‘Yes, I want them to sign new deals. You are talking about two great players,’ the Italian is quoted in the Daily Express.

‘Thibaut is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Maybe the best. And then there is Eden. The club knows the importance of these two players and they are happy to play for this club.

‘I will be very happy when they can have this deal. These two are great players because they have a lot of space for improvement. They are very young and it will be great to keep them with us.’
