Real Madrid have reportedly made a bid for Inter Milan striker and rumoured Chelsea transfer target Mauro Icardi that would involve Jesus Vallejo moving in the opposite direction.

The Sun recently reported that Chelsea and Madrid could be set to do battle over Icardi, whom they rate at about £100million ahead of the January transfer window.

Icardi has been in superb goalscoring form for Inter this season, netting 16 goals in 15 Serie A matches so far in 2017/18 to attract interest from Europe’s elite.

Don Balon now claim Real could try to get the 24-year-old’s price tag down by offering young defender Jesus Vallejo a transfer to the San Siro as part of the deal.

It remains to be seen if this will be enough to tempt Inter into letting their star player go, but it is suggested that one potential stumbling block could be Vallejo’s own uncertainty about the switch.

Either way, Chelsea don’t necessarily look that much in need of the signing of Icardi at the moment, with Alvaro Morata showing himself to be a fine purchase since his move from Madrid in the summer.

It is his departure, however, that looks to have hurt Zinedine Zidane’s side, with Karim Benzema struggling for form and little in the way of backup currently in the squad.

Icardi could be a fine replacement for Morata, but he could also end up playing alongside the Spaniard if Antonio Conte does get his way.
