Chelsea fans enjoyed the chance to troll their former player Diego Costa tonight as they sent Atletico Madrid crashing out of the Champions League this evening.
The Blues drew 1-1 with Atletico at Stamford Bridge, with Diego Simeone’s side needing a victory and for results to go their way elsewhere to have any hope of going through.
This may not have been a victory for Chelsea, but it felt pretty sweet for the club’s supporters as they got the chance to rub it in to Costa after he forced a move away in the summer.
Costa shone for Chelsea in his three years at Stamford Bridge, but ended up returning to his former club after agreeing the move shortly after the summer transfer window.
The deal will now officially go through when Atletico’s transfer ban ends in January, and he’ll have Europa League football to look forward to once he is eligible to play…
