With his contract running down, Napoli ace and reported Liverpool and Chelsea target Faouzi Ghoulam has ended speculation over his future.
The 26-year-old was set to become a free agent at the end of the season with an expiring contract, and the Metro had reported that both Liverpool and Chelsea were keen on swooping for him.
Given Jurgen Klopp still has problems at left-back with Alberto Moreno never far from being in the firing line for a defensive mistake, Antonio Conte must add additional depth and quality in the same position given an over-reliance on Marcos Alonso who has rarely not featured for 90 minutes this season.
Further, having established himself as a key figure in Maurizio Sarri’s side, helping them to step up to the next level to compete for the Serie A title last season and now this year, it’s no surprise that Ghoulam was gaining significant interest from elsewhere.
However, as seen in the tweets below from Ghoulam himself and Napoli, the Algerian international has now penned a new contract which will keep him tied to the Partenopei until 2022.
Man City are also mentioned in the above report from the Metro, but the Premier League trio are all now set to be left disappointed, with Napoli the winners in this one as they keep hold of their highly-talented left-back who will hope to recover from injury sooner rather than later to help his side continue to fight for the Scudetto this season.
