While the majority of the world is busy waiting for the Manchester derby this weekend, Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho has an important task to take care of.
The Red Devils face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night, looking to confirm their place in the knockout stage of the competition.
In turn, it’s not a matter that he can take lightly and so his full focus will be on getting the necessary result before attention can be switched to the all-important clash with Man City.
It’s easy to understand why many are eagerly anticipating that game, as it’s a clash between two bitter rivals at the top of the Premier League table, the result of which could shape the title race for the rest of the season.
While he may be thinking about CSKA for now, Mourinho is evidently still keeping the City game in mind as the Manchester Evening News report that the Portuguese tactician will rest Man Utd duo David de Gea and Marcos Rojo against the Russian giants.
Both were integral in the win over Arsenal last weekend, but especially in the case of Rojo who has just returned form a long injury layoff, it does make sense to leave them out on this occasion.
Nevertheless, he’ll hope that it doesn’t come back to haunt him in midweek with a loss, albeit a heavy one is needed to deny them a place in the next phase.
It’s added in the report that Sergio Romero will start on Tuesday, while Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Michael Carrick and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are all ruled out so changes will be expected at the weekend.
