Manchester United face a scare over the transfer of Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann as Real Madrid still hope they can hijack his move to Old Trafford.
The France international is thought to have already struck a verbal agreement on a move to United, but Real are eager to persuade him to choose the Bernabeu instead, according to Diario Gol.
Griezmann will have a €100million release clause come into effect next summer, and looks a tempting option at that kind of price.
United are being linked with a number of attacking players, with the Sun suggesting Harry Kane could be a target, while another report from the Sun claims Gareth Bale is a target alongside Griezmann in a double deal.
Bale leaving could open up a space for Griezmann in Zinedine Zidane’s side, and Diario Gol’s latest report claims the French tactician has promised his fellow countryman he’ll be first choice.
So it may not be all bad news for United if that allows Bale to move to Old Trafford, though on recent form it is the Atletico front-man who’d be the better purchase.
Griezmann has shone consistently over the last few seasons, while Bale has had problems with both fitness and form.
Unsurprisingly, this means United face rival interest in the 26-year-old, and Diario Gol claim Real are doing their best to tell the player not to rush into finalising things with the Red Devils.
