Chelsea fans react to West Ham loss: Title hopes over, fume over key weakness

It wasn’t a good day for Chelsea on Saturday, as Antonio Conte’s men slipped to a deeply disappointing 1-0 defeat to West Ham United.

The visitors at the London Stadium were poor throughout, failing to play their best football as an early Marko Arnautovic goal was the difference between the two teams.

Although they enjoyed plenty of possession thereafter, there weren’t many notable chances created, although Alvaro Morata fluffed his lines when handed a great opportunity while Eden Hazard blazed over just moments later as Chelsea piled on the pressure in the latter stages.

However, there was no way through for them as David Moyes secured his first win as Hammers boss, with his opposite number left to dissect and analyse a very poor display which has many believing that their Premier League title hopes are already over in December.

It’s difficult to disagree with that given they could fall 14 points behind leaders Man City on Sunday if they beat rivals Man Utd, and so it doesn’t look particularly positive for Conte and his men.

From bidding an emotional farewell to their Premier League title crown to clashing over Conte himself, there was one key area of the team that infuriated Chelsea fans in particular it seems as many offloaded their anger after the full-time whistle on Twitter, as seen below.

The wing-back areas seem to be an area of concern for many, but it’s difficult to understand the widespread criticism given many of these individuals won the title last season. It seems like an overreaction, but every fan has the right to respond how they see fit.

The Blues travel to Huddersfield on Tuesday night as they look to bounce back before they head back to Stamford Bridge next weekend to host Southampton.
