Chelsea could be set to hand club ambassador roles to legendary duo Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack, after the pair reportedly met with club director Marina Granovskaia.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who state that Granovskaia met with the pair, and that the Chelsea director is eager to secure a return to the west London side for the duo.

The news outlet are also reporting that both Ballack and Lampard’s return, should it be agreed, would not happen immediately, as both of the former Blues stars have commitments that they are required to spend a certain amount of time on.

Ballack and Lampard could be set for a return to Chelsea in the near future

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Lampard become one of Chelsea’s all-time greatest players.

During his time with the Blues, the former England international was able to amass a total of 209 goals and 150 assists in 632 games, an astonishing record for a midfielder.

Lampard also managed to help the west London side a whole host of trophies, with the player helping the Blues win one Champions League title, three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Community Shields, two League Cups and one Europa League.

For Ballack, the story is pretty similar. During his time at the club, the German was able to score 25 and assist 24 in 167 appearances, a formidable record considering the player’s relatively old age.

Similarly to Lampard, Ballack helped the Premier League giants win a fair amount of silverware during his time with them, as during his time at the club, the midfielder won one Premier League, three FA Cups and one League Cup, as well as one Community Shield.
