‘Hazard next please’ – Chelsea fans react after new contract for starlet announced

Chelsea confirmed that youngster Charly Musonda has signed a new contract on Friday, and while the club’s supporters were pleased, they want news on two pivotal players.

The 21-year-old has struggled for playing time so far this season, making five appearances in all competitions with competition for places fierce at Stamford Bridge.

In turn, reaching an agreement on a new long-term deal is a boost for Chelsea to keep him at the club and give him the time and patience to develop further and establish himself in the senior side.

Whether that plays out remains to be seen though, as the Blues do have a reputation of loaning out their young stars who then struggle to make their mark at Stamford Bridge.

Nevertheless, while supporters were pleased to see Musonda put pen to paper on a new deal, they couldn’t help but allow their focus be distracted as many flooded the comments on Twitter with a request on two other players.

Those individuals were Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, with The Express reporting earlier this week how Antonio Conte had reportedly called on the Blues to get things sorted over their futures too.

Both men are absolutely pivotal to Conte’s plans moving forward but their respective contracts expire in 2020 and 2019, and while there isn’t a need for an immediate panic, every top club wants security and longevity when it comes to their top players.

That seems to be the message from these supporters too who have called on Chelsea to quickly switch their focus to the Belgian duo and make an announcement on further contracts being agreed upon.

While Courtois has continued to establish himself as one of the top goalkeepers in Europe, Hazard’s form has been getting better and better this season, as he now has eight goals and seven assists in 20 outings. Having helped deliver two Premier League titles in the last three years, it’s no wonder fans want them at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future…
