Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi was an unused substitute in his side’s 1-0 loss at West Ham United on Saturday, and so he had to keep himself warm on the bench.

It may be a wonderful time of the year but it’s also a bitterly cold one too with snow falling in many parts of the country, although the London Stadium was unaffected.

That didn’t stop the Chelsea bench from passing around a hot water bottle during the first half of their clash the Hammers though, as they tried to keep warm and avoid any muscle problems if called upon by Antonio Conte to change the game.

Batshuayi didn’t get the call this time round, and while Antonio Rudiger went for the traditional use of the hot water bottle on his lap, his Belgian teammate decided it would be useful on his face.

Naturally, while some will have found it hilarious, Batshuayi has received some not so nice comments too, but it’s certainly one way to keep himself warm. Next time, he’ll just be hoping to get on the pitch to add to his tally of seven goals in 14 appearances this season with Chelsea suffering a costly defeat that leaves them in real trouble in their bid to defend their Premier League crown.

All hope is now seemingly lost as Man City could extend their lead over Conte’s men to 14 points if they beat Man Utd on Sunday.
