Arsenal take on Southampton at St. Mary’s on Sunday hoping to secure a win which would move them back into the top four perhaps temporarily.
The Gunners bounced back after their loss at Man Utd last weekend with a comprehensive win over BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday night, and they’ll certainly be hoping to build off that this weekend.
Arsene Wenger is forced into a change at the back as after Skhodran Mustafi limped off early against United, he hasn’t recovered for this one and so Per Mertesacker comes into the heart of the three-man defence against the Saints.
The preferred attacking trident of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette start up front, although much to the frustration of supporters, as seen in the tweets below, there’s no place for Jack Wilshere in the starting line-up.
Wilshere got back on the scoresheet in midweek as he continues to impress in Europe, but Wenger continues to hold him back in domestic action as he’s forced to settle for a place on the bench again as he’ll have to carry on banging on the door for a permanent place in the Arsenal line-up.
