Manchester United eye new targets as they fear they’re set to miss out on Antoine Griezmann transfer

Manchester United reportedly feel the Antoine Griezmann transfer may be out of their reach now and have begun looking for alternative targets for next summer.

According to the Independent, there is the growing feeling among sources close to Atletico Madrid and their star player that he’s set to seal a transfer to Barcelona instead.

This follows recent speculation from Don Balon that Griezmann was leaning towards a move to the Nou Camp and wanted the deal wrapped up as quickly as possible.

While this looks a real blow for the Red Devils, who Don Balon earlier claimed had a verbal agreement of sorts with the France international, it now seems they may not be too concerned about the failed deal.

The Independent claim United are already moving on from missing out on the Griezmann transfer and are looking at other options, which also fits in well with numerous other recent reports.

Earlier this season, the Sun linked United with a big-money bid for Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who has been in better form than Griezmann this season anyway.

Meanwhile, Diario Gol recently claimed Gareth Bale had agreed on leaving Real Madrid next summer, with United prepared to pay around £53million to bring the Welshman back to the Premier League.

Either way, Romelu Lukaku’s huge dip in form recently shows the club could do with at least one more world class goalscorer in their ranks, with the Belgian clearly talented but unable to do it week in, week out all on his own up there.
