Philippe Coutinho transfer sparks Barcelona dressing room row, with two concerns over Liverpool star

The possible Philippe Coutinho transfer already looks to be sparking concern in the Barcelona dressing room due to two major doubts over signing the Liverpool star.

The Brazil international was a target for Barca during the summer, with BBC Sport reporting that the Reds rejected three offers for him, and it’s expected that the saga isn’t over yet.

Don Balon claimed yesterday that Coutinho is keen to push for a move this January, while Sport claim they remain interested but are also looking into cheaper options such as Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil.

Diario Gol now report that Barcelona players feel paying so much for the Coutinho transfer may be unwise, especially as he is cup-tied in the Champions League so couldn’t play for them in the competition in the second half of the season.

The report also claims players like Gerard Pique and Sergio Busquets could end up asking for new contracts amid fears that Coutinho would likely earn more than them.

The 25-year-old could be a great addition for Barca on the pitch, but it seems the potential deal also has the ability to rock the boat a little off the pitch at the Nou Camp.

Still, Diario Gol suggest the move may not be on the cards for now anyway, with Liverpool not keen to lose their star player in the middle of the season after making good progress in the Champions League.
