Man City keeping tabs on 24-year-old German ace, club could rival Chelsea and Man United for star

Manchester City have reportedly scouted 24-year-old Augsburg defender Philipp Max, who has been impressing fans with his performances so far this season.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who state that the Citzens’ scouts were at Max’s side’s game against Freiburg this weekend.

The news outlet are also reporting that both both Chelsea and Man United have watched the player in the past, so it seems that if City are to move for the player, they could have to fend off both their Premier League title rivals in the race to secure the player’s signature.

Man City have been keeping a close eye on Max recently

Since making his debut for Bundesliga outfit Ausgburg in the 2015/16 season, Max has impressed the masses with his performances from left-back.

In 75 appearances for his side, Max has been able to contribute two goals and 13 assists, a decent record considering the German’s young age.

So far this season, Max has somewhat set the league alight with his performances, as in 17 games, the 24-year-old has managed to clock up a record of one goals and 10 assists, a very good return.

The Daily Mail are also saying that Man City are reportedly on the lookout for another left-back following the injury that summer signing Benjamin Mendy suffered in September, so Max seems like the perfect stop-gap for Pep Guardiola as he looks to win his first Premier League title.
