He’s one of the most prolific forwards in Europe, but Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a nightmare against Hoffenheim.
Fortunately for him, this miss didn’t come back to haunt him as Dortmund secured a 2-1 win over their Bundesliga rivals as they moved up to third place in the standings.
The 28-year-old has scored an impressive 21 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but how he didn’t take his tally to 22 with this chance is beyond belief.
After doing all the hard work, chasing the ball down to get a fortunate bounce from the goalkeeper’s attempted clearance and putting himself in front of an open goal, he somehow managed to nod his effort towards the wrong side of the post.
Aubameyang rescued it from going out of play only to see Mahmoud Dahoud miss a sitter too, while replays showed that the Gabon international couldn’t help but let out a giggle as realised that he had missed with his attempt.
Dahoud is lucky as his miss was pretty bad as well, but that was entirely overshadowed by this from his teammate who can afford to laugh it off given the result…
