Chelsea prepare raid on PL rivals, Conte eyes move for attacking star

Chelsea are reportedly considering a swoop for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha next summer as he continues to impress for the Eagles.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist in 12 Premier League games this season, drawing praise for his performances to help the upturn in form under Roy Hodgson.

Palace have moved up to 14th place in the table, although they remain just two points above the relegation zone which will be a continuing source of concern moving forward until they widen the gap.

In turn, they won’t want to lose Zaha anytime soon as they look to secure their Premier League status for another year, but The Mirror report that Chelsea could launch a bid next summer.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are specifically mentioned as being interested parties too, and so there is likely to be competition for the Ivory Coast international’s signature.

Nevertheless, after his previous stint at Man Utd, he still has a question to answer in terms of delivering at the highest level, albeit he has come a long way since then given his experience and maturity of playing regularly for Palace.

Zaha remains absolutely crucial to their chances of staying up this season and so a January exit would make no sense whatsoever, As a result, if Chelsea really are keen to snap him up, they’ll have to be patient until the summer, at which point Antonio Conte will have to assess the options and look to strengthen his squad in the best way possible.
