Arsenal and Liverpool played out a thrilling encounter at the Emirates Stadium as this Friday night Premier League fixture ended in a 3-3 draw.
Philippe Coutinho gave the Reds the lead with a first-half header, with Arsenal barely at the races early on.
Mohamed Salah then looked to kill the game in the 52nd minute with his 21st goal of the season, but what followed was utter madness.
Incredibly, Arsenal scored three goals in four minutes to turn things around, with Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil delivering the goods.
However, the home side were pegged back again as Roberto Firmino’s shot was bizarrely flapped at by Petr Cech, capping a miserable night for both goalkeepers.
Man of the match
It’s hard to evaluate who really stood out in such a bizarre game, but with a goal and an assist Firmino probably just about edges it.
The Brazilian forward was a threat throughout and deserved his goal, even if it came via a huge slice of luck due to Cech’s error.
Despite not starting out as a striker when he joined Liverpool, Firmino looks more and more comfortable in that false 9 role all the time.
Flop of the match
It’s a close call between both goalkeepers, but we’ll probably say Simon Mignolet on this occasion.
Cech actually had some decent moments before he messed up on the Firmino goal, helping keep Arsenal in the game as Liverpool dominated the first half.
Mignolet, however, got the little that was asked of him badly wrong and was all at sea for the Xhaka and Ozil goals in particular.
Stat of the match
We rightly fawn over Manchester City’s attacking play this season, but how about this for a stat from Liverpool?
27 goals away from home is no mean feat and it’s truly a joy to watch their front four on nights like this, even if their defence and goalkeeper continue to let them down.
Europe’s top 5 leagues – most away goals this season
