Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to pay £50million to seal the transfer of Sergio Busquets from his former club Barcelona.
The Spain international became a key player at the Nou Camp during Guardiola’s time in charge, and he seems ideal for how he likes his sides to play.
An expert defensive midfielder with great positional awareness, intelligent passing, and great technique to boot, it is little surprise to see Busquets become part of Guardiola’s plans at the Etihad Stadium.
This is according to Don Balon, who claim Guardiola is ready to pay £50m for this ambitious signing – a bid that seems unlikely to be enough to persuade Barca.
Still, City fans will be delighted by their manager’s ambition after already turning City into one of the most feared sides in Europe this season.
Guardiola’s men have won a record-breaking 16 league games in a row to put themselves in charge of the Premier League title race.
Their considerable wealth means big-name signings like Busquets could be possible, with Don Balon also claiming the 29-year-old would only consider leaving his current club to work with Guaridola again.
