Bad news for Liverpool, Klopp suffers major injury blow with two-week absence

Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah has been in sensational form so far this season, but he could be thrown off track having picked up an injury problem.

The 25-year-old has scored 23 goals and provided eight assists in 29 appearances in all competitions so far this season, as he has made a stunning impact following his summer move from Roma.

In turn, the last thing that Jurgen Klopp would have wanted is for him to pick up an injury, as that could now risk breaking his momentum and forcing him to get back to full fitness before he can be a decisive figure for the Reds again.

It simply isn’t an ideal situation for Liverpool, with The Mirror reporting that the Egyptian international is expected to be ruled out for at least two weeks after picking up a knee problem in the win over Leicester City at the weekend, a game in which his brace secured all three points.

Provided that timeline holds, that means Salah will definitely miss the New Year’s Day clash with Burnley, while it raises serious doubts over his ability to face Everton in the FA Cup next Friday night as that will surely come too soon for him as Klopp won’t want to rush him back and risk a bigger setback either.

As a result, the meeting with Manchester City on January 14 seems the most likely return date for Salah, and that will be a huge boost for him and for Liverpool as they will want him back for a huge game as they look to continue to march on in their pursuit of a top-four finish this season.
