Chelsea in three-team PL scrap for £40m+ target, Man Utd also keen

It appears as though Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey has made quite the impression as Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal are all reportedly interested in him.

The 20-year-old is evidently doing something right, as having hit eight goals and provided four assists in 16 games this season, he’s settling in well in Germany after his move from Genk last January.

Credited with versatility to play on either flank along with pace, movement and an eye for goal, it’s easy to see why Bailey is so highly rated, and in turn why the likes of Chelsea, United and Arsenal are paying him so much attention.

According to The Mirror, he’ll cost over £40m, but all three Premier League giants named above are preparing for a transfer battle in the summer window.

In turn, it sets up an intriguing situation, as depending on the offers submitted, it could come down to which club Bailey feels gives him the best opportunity to progress as an individual and win trophies with the collective.

All three clubs could certainly use a talent like him for the short-term and long-term future, perhaps less so United with the presence of the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the current squad.

In contrast, Pedro and Willian need competition moving forward, while Arsenal continue to fall behind their opponents as Arsene Wenger continues to show faith in the likes of Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott while Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could be gone in a few months time given their expiring contracts.

Signing Bailey, and particularly beating the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd to his signature would be a big coup for the Gunners and Wenger, but it remains to be seen whether or not they can get their target at the end of the season.
