AC Milan transfer news: €25m target monitored, boost in pursuit of Tottenham ace

AC Milan spent big last summer, but new arrivals could be possible in the January transfer window too as per reports in Italy to address a key weakness in their squad.

11 new players arrived in the last window, with the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva and Hakan Calhanoglu all expected to make a huge impact for the Rossoneri.

It hasn’t gone quite to plan, as reflected in the Serie A standings with Gennaro Gattuso’s side sitting in 11th place with 28 points from their 20 games.

In turn, while it’s unclear if the club are willing to finance more new signings this month, reinforcements would be welcome and reports continue to link players with a move to the San Siro.

According to Calciomercato, Udinese’s Jakun Jankto is a top target, although his valuation of between €20m-€25m is said to be too steep for Milan.

It’s added that a departure for Gustavo Gomez could help fund that move, but it remains to be seen whether or not it materialises.

Calciomercato also suggest that Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele is of interest, and Milan’s hopes of prising him away from Spurs could be boosted by their pursuit of Andre Gomes from Barcelona.

Were the Portuguese international to arrive at Wembley this month, it would free up Dembele to potentially move on, with Milan waiting in the wings to snap him up.

Again, that seems a little way off from being a serious possibility, but at least Milan are looking in the right place to strengthen. Franck Kessie has played an incredible amount of football so far this season, and the 21-year-old can’t be asked to continue as he risks burn-out or an injury.

An alternative to replicate the tenacity, powerful driving runs forward and physicality in the middle is needed, and so Dembele arguably ticks those boxes in particular and would be a great addition.
