Real Madrid boss gives special status to £60million Arsenal transfer target

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is reportedly only interested in one signing at the moment – and that is Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir.

The France international has made a great start to this season, contributing 16 goals and four assists in 23 games for his club so far this term.

This has unsurprisingly led to interest from some big names, with various sources suggesting Arsenal were moving closer to landing Fekir earlier this season.

Transfermarketweb claimed in late November that Fekir was closing in on replacing Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium, while the Daily Star suggested talks were progressing over a £60million move to bring him to Arsenal.

Fekir would certainly be a useful addition at Arsenal right now given their fears over contract rebel Sanchez, whom the Guardian claim has been the subject of a bid from Manchester City.

Still, according to Don Balon, Fekir is a priority target for Madrid boss Zidane, who cannot see anyone else capable of replacing Karim Benzema in his attack.

It remains to be seen, however, if club president Florentino Perez will back his manager with a move for the 24-year-old.

Don Balon have also sensationally claimed that Real may be about to solve their problems up front by splashing out on Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
