Arsenal poised to bank useful £67million to add to transfer kitty from smart player sales this month

Arsenal are reportedly poised to pocket as much as £67million from the departures of three first-team stars in this January’s transfer window.

This could prove useful for Arsene Wenger in the tricky task of replacing the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, whose futures are in serious doubt as they near the ends of their contracts.

Still, Arsenal could give their transfer budget a healthy boost if they succeed in cashing in on some first-team players this winter, with various reports suggesting they could do so and come out pretty well-off.

According to the Metro, Arsenal look to have relaxed their stance on Alexis Sanchez and could let him join Manchester City for just £25m, which is certainly well below his true market value.

Still, they also cite reports in Spain that the Gunners could raise as much as £22m from the sale of Francis Coquelin to Valencia – which is pretty baffling.

Gooners won’t care, though, with the unreliable Frenchman barely even playing this season, while the Daily Mail also link Theo Walcott with a move to Everton for around £20m.

In total, that could mean £67m for Wenger to spend on a big name in attack, though it may be just short of enough in today’s market.

However, the Liverpool Echo claim it could just about be enough to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, who has been linked with Arsenal recently.
