La Liga giants chasing Chelsea transfer raid, deal depends on Blues signing

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is reportedly a loan target for Sevilla in this January’s transfer window after being alerted by the Blues’ openness to letting him go.

The Belgium international has never managed to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge in his first year and a half at the club, and could now make an early exit.

This seems a shame for a player who has established himself as something of a fan-favourite for his bubbly Twitter personality, and for providing one of last season’s most important moments for Chelsea.

Batshuayi scored the winner against West Brom that secured the Premier League title for Chelsea last May, but unfortunately he has failed to score on a consistent basis whenever given a rare opportunity by Antonio Conte.

According to ESPN, this has led to Sevilla showing an interest in the 24-year-old, though the champions will only let him go if they can sign a replacement this month.

The Daily Mail recently linked Chelsea with a loan move for West Ham striker Andy Carroll, who could be a surprise choice to fill that backup centre-forward role.

Still, some fans may rightly question the wisdom of letting a promising player who may still have his best years ahead of him leave for a player proven not to be truly top level in the Premier League.
