Real Madrid see off Manchester United to close sensational transfers for £297million duo

Real Madrid have reportedly ‘closed’ the transfers of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard for next season, according to astonishing claims by Don Balon.

The Sun had recently linked Hazard with Manchester United before then claiming Real Madrid were chasing the Belgium international in a £120million deal in another report.

The Sun have also reported on United’s apparent interest in Spurs hit-man Kane, with Don Balon also recently suggesting the England international’s £177m asking price could be too high for Real, despite their interest in him.

Still, latest developments suggest Florentino Perez believes he has struck deals to sign both players for what could potentially be a combined £297m if previously mentioned fees end up being correct.

With Barcelona splashing out on signing Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool this January, it is little surprise that Madrid want to flex their financial muscle, or at least leak to the press that they’re set to do so.

Signing both Hazard and Kane as their next Galacticos would be a huge statement of intent, but may also be a wise and necessary move to replace the misfiring front three of this season.

While Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale have all been fine servants for the Spanish giants, they all look past their best now and could do with younger replacements.

Hazard and Kane have, in their own way, both lit up the Premier League in recent times and would make superb additions for Real, though it’s certainly a blow for United.

However, it seems unlikely the Red Devils could have persuaded two of their main rivals to sell two such important players to them anyway, even at those kinds of prices.
