Ian Wright warns £49million Liverpool target about sealing Arsenal transfer

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has sent a word of warning to Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez over sealing a transfer to the Gunners in their current state.

Arsene Wenger faces a nightmare scenario at the moment as both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are nearing the ends of their contracts and could be on their way out of the club imminently.

The Guardian claim Manchester City have bid £20million for Sanchez, while the Independent suggest his move to the Etihad Stadium could be done this week.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror recently claimed Manchester United could also try to sign Ozil this January before he becomes available on a free in the summer.

Mahrez has shone for Leicester and could be an ideal signing for Arsenal right now, but Wright believes that the Sanchez and Ozil situations could make it a big challenge for the Algerian to come in and do a job for Wenger’s side.

‘Arsenal are in a position now where someone like Mahrez has to go there and really pull up trees to get them back to a position where they should be,’ Wright was quoted in the Mirror.

‘What help would Mahrez have? They’re looking at two unbelievable players who might walk out of the club.’

beIN Sports recently linked Mahrez with an imminent £49million move to Liverpool, and he could also fit in well as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho after his move to Barcelona.

The 26-year-old could perhaps do well to listen to Wright and take in his words on the state of things at Arsenal if he is to choose between them and Liverpool.
