Manchester United handed major £89million transfer boost after Barcelona trio’s talks with club chiefs

Manchester United look to have been handed a major transfer boost by Barcelona stars Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta, who reportedly don’t want Antoine Griezmann at the club.

The France international has shone for Atletico Madrid in recent years, leading to rumoured interest from top clubs, though it seems some at Barca aren’t convinced they need him.

According to Don Balon, Messi, Suarez and Iniesta have communicated this view to the Barcelona board, urging them not to spend a huge amount of money – likely around £89million – on a position that doesn’t need strengthening.

The Sun recently linked Griezmann with United, so they may be pleased to hear of this development as it seems a move for the 26-year-old to the Nou Camp may not be entirely straightforward.

With the likes of Messi and Suarez up front, along with this season’s signings Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, there certainly doesn’t seem much need for another player in that mould.

Griezmann is undoubtedly a top talent, but may find it’s better for him to pick another offer, such as one from Old Trafford, where he would surely get more playing time anyway.

Jose Mourinho could do with more options up front due to some unconvincing form from Romelu Lukaku and others this season as his side have failed to keep up the pace with Manchester City.
