Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly a big fan of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, though his release clause could prevent a transfer.
The Spain international is regarded as one of the best young midfield players in the game right now, having shown himself to be a terrific all-rounder with his form in La Liga.
Saul, 23, has been linked with United in the past and the Daily Record claim he’s on Mourinho’s radar again as he looks to strengthen in midfield.
However, the report claims Saul has a staggering release clause of as much as £133million, which could be too much even for United to consider at the moment.
The report goes on to say that the Red Devils could look at Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred as an alternative, though he’s also on Manchester City’s radar.
Mourinho’s search for a new midfielder looks to be due to Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick’s likely departures when their contracts expire in the summer.
