Arsenal closing in on £45million transfer that could be good news for Manchester United

Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to the exciting transfer of Bordeaux forward Malcom that could free up Alexis Sanchez to leave the Emirates Stadium for Manchester United.

The Chile international is heading towards the end of his contract and that means he could leave on the cheap this January as the Gunners do their best to avoid losing him for free.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Arsenal seem to be closing in on Malcom as an ideal replacement for Sanchez in attack, in what looks a boost for the Red Devils.

Their report claims Manchester City’s doubts over a deal have given United hope of signing Sanchez, with Arsenal asking for around £35million for their star player.

Malcom looks to be set for a transfer to Arsenal

With the Daily Mail suggesting Malcom would cost Arsenal around £45m, that seems decent business by Arsene Wenger’s side in a reshuffle up front that won’t cost a fortune.

The prospect of finding a big name to fill the void left by Sanchez, potentially departing for free or for a lower asking price, would have been far from ideal for the Gunners’ finances.

Still, fans will also be gutted anyway as it looks increasingly likely that Sanchez is heading to one of their major rivals.
