Antonio Conte pushes for Chelsea to hijack major Manchester United transfer deal

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has reportedly recommended the a transfer swoop for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to his club, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Chile international’s future is the subject of much speculation at the moment, with the Gunners failing to tie him down to a new contract as his current deal expires in the summer.

This puts Arsenal in a difficult position regarding the player’s future, with the feeling increasingly seeming to be that they should cash in on him this January rather than lose him for free in a few months’ time.

At the start of the week, the Independent claimed Sanchez was more than likely closing in on a switch to Manchester City, but BBC Sport now suggest United may be ahead of their rivals in the battle for the 29-year-old’s signature.

The Red Devils seem more willing than City to pay Arsenal’s £35million asking price for Sanchez, but the Telegraph now suggest Conte wants Chelsea to get involved in the transfer battle.

Alexis Sanchez transfer speculation now sees him linked with Chelsea

The Italian dropped a not-so-subtle hint that he thought it would be a good deal during his press conference yesterday, saying: ‘I think it’s a good investment. You can buy him (Sanchez) for a price not so high. Around £20m. This is a great chance for the clubs interested in him.’

Sanchez was linked with Chelsea by the Daily Mirror just over a year ago, so it would not be too surprising to see the Blues still holding an interest as he looks to become available this month.

With Alvaro Morata struggling up front recently, the signing of the Arsenal forward could be a huge boost to Conte’s side as they hope for better second half of the season.

Sanchez is also not cup-tied in the Champions League so could be a big boost to any club that does win the race for his signature this January.
