Manchester United and Chelsea could pave the way for stunning Real Madrid transfer raid on Manchester City

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in sealing a stunning transfer swoop for one of Manchester City’s best players in Raheem Sterling, claims Don Balon.

The England international is having one of his finest seasons in the Premier League, scoring 18 goals in all competitions already – his best-ever tally in a single campaign.

Sterling could undoubtedly fit in at one of Europe’s super clubs, and Don Balon claim Real are eager for him to replace Gareth Bale in their front three.

The Wales international has not been at his best at the Bernabeu recently, though the report claims he’s still a top transfer target for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, who are prepared to pay big to bring him back to England.

Sterling could be an ideal like-for-like replacement in Los Blancos’ attack, but it would certainly spell bad news for Pep Guardiola if Sterling’s departure were to also see either United or Chelsea strengthened.

While City look like running away with the title this season, it would be harder to dominate in such fashion again if they were to lose one of their best players and see their rivals land a potentially world class performer like Bale.

The 28-year-old shone during his time with Tottenham and could tear the Premier League apart again if he gets over his recent injury problems.
