Man Utd want TWO Real Madrid players, Cristiano Ronaldo is NOT one of them

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t having the ideal season this year for Real Madrid, and it’s claimed Man Utd aren’t keen on taking him back.

Instead, it’s reported that the Red Devils are setting their sights on two of his Madrid teammates, even though the Portuguese superstar would arguably love to seal a return to his former club.

According to Don Balon, as re-reported by The Express, Jose Mourinho isn’t keen on the idea of taking him back to Manchester, and would rather look at deals for Marco Asensio and Raphael Varane.

It’s unclear as to why he would sign another defender given he already has the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo at his disposal.

However, amid speculation of a move for Alexis Sanchez, it seems as though the Man Utd boss is eager to bolster his attacking options in the near future.

Asensio has shown glimpses of his class but will want a more prominent role as he continues to sit behind the ‘BBC’ trident when all fit, while others currently at Mourinho’s disposal have had their struggles with consistency this season too.

As for Ronaldo, it’s a concerning time for him as he prepares to turn 33 next month. He has endured a miserable La Liga campaign to date, with Real Madrid now a staggering 19 points adrift of Barcelona in the table.

Naturally many believe that we’re seeing his decline, but time will tell if he can rediscover his best form in a Madrid shirt, or if he is forced to consider his options at the end of the season.
