Arsenal are reportedly preparing to bid again for West Brom defender Jonny Evans as their major revamp in this January’s transfer window continues.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Northern Ireland international remains on Arsene Wenger’s radar and a £20million offer could be in the works alongside other major deals.
While the Alexis Sanchez transfer situation means Arsenal need to strengthen in attack, there’s also a case for saying they need to improve on their options at the back as well.
Per Mertesacker will retire at the end of the season, while Laurent Koscielny is also not getting any younger and the likes of Shkodran Mustafi struggle for consistency.
Evans would surely be an upgrade in that area, and the Mirror also link him as a target for Manchester City after his impressive form at the Hawthorns.
The 30-year-old has plenty of experience and has shown he can do it for a top club after spending much of his career at Manchester United.
The report also links Arsenal with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang while another claim by the Mirror provides an update on their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
