Manchester United could be about to deal a major double blow to rivals Chelsea in the transfer market as they close in on Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
According to Don Balon, Chelsea’s recent links with Sanchez are due to their growing fears they will be unable to prevent Eden Hazard from joining Real Madrid this summer.
The Belgium international has been linked with the Spanish giants on many occasions and it now seems the Blues are fighting a losing battle to keep their star forward.
Sanchez would have been an ideal replacement for Hazard at Stamford Bridge, but the Daily Express claim he could be less than 48 hours away from finalising his move to Old Trafford.
If this materialises, it will be a major victory for United over their rivals ahead of next season, with Sanchez significantly strengthening them while Hazard’s exit seriously damages Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have been involved in an ongoing public row recently and the Portuguese could certainly feel very smug about himself if he pulls off this incredible double victory.
