Liverpool transfer news: Salah wants £17m LFC signing plus major concern amid ominous Emre Can warning

Liverpool’s transfer business in January could be far from over as speculation continues to link players coming in and going out.

The Reds have already been active with the signing of Virgil van Dijk, while Philippe Coutinho departed Anfield to join Barcelona.

However, with two weeks left in the window, Jurgen Klopp could move to strengthen his squad where possible, with Forza Roma, as re-reported by The Express, claiming that Mohamed Salah wants ex-Roma teammate Emerson Palmieri to join him at Anfield.

It’s added that the Brazilian would cost £17m, and although the left-back slot has been problematic for the Reds in recent seasons, they may well have found a solution given Andy Robertson’s recent form.

Klopp has finally given him a shot in the starting line-up having started him in eight of the last nine Premier League games, and so perhaps there’s no need to bring in another left-back as has been very impressive, with the albeit often-criticised Alberto Moreno in reserve to offer cover.

It remains to be seen whether or not that develops further, but Salah is seemingly convinced, while the report notes that Chelsea are also interested and so Liverpool may have to move quickly if they are keen on Palmieri.

Juventus send ominous warning over Emre Can pursuit

Meanwhile, Tuttosport have a worrying update for Reds fans when it comes to the future of midfielder Emre Can who will become a free agent at the end of the season when his current contract expires.

No official news has yet arrived over the German international’s future beyond this season, and now Juve chief Beppe Marotta has delivered a message to suggest that the Turin giants are desperate to land his signature.

“He’s an excellent player and it’s a great opportunity, today regulations allow us to make contact. The competition is great. But we will do everything to get him. We will intensify contacts in the coming weeks. I exclude that he can arrive in January,” he is quoted as saying.

Based on those comments, it would sound as though Liverpool have a real battle on their hands to convince Can to remain at Anfield and snub the interest of the Italian champions.

It would be a huge loss as he has been an important figure in the side, and at just 24 years of age, he has a lot more improvement and development to enjoy which could see him become a stalwart on Merseyside if he did stay.
