Team-mate aims dig at £53m star as he nears Arsenal transfer

Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle has aimed a dig at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as reports suggest he’s edging nearer to completing his transfer to Arsenal.

The Gabon international’s future has been at the centre of much speculation this January, and Schurrle isn’t happy as he admits it’s been a big distraction for the rest of the Dortmund squad.

German outlet WA claimed yesterday that BVB chief Michael Zorc is set to negotiate Aubameyang’s £53million transfer in London as it looks like things are moving along.

This would be a fine signing for Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks in dire need of a big-name signing up front to replace the departing Alexis Sanchez.

The Daily Mirror claim Sanchez is set to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Manchester United today after leaving the Gunners’ team hotel late last night.

Aubameyang could be perfect to fill that void up front after his tremendous scoring record during his time with Dortmund, but his exit looks set to leave a sour taste.

Discussing the deal, Schurrle said Aubameyang has left the rest of the squad shaking their heads.

‘It’s been a big issue in the team,’ the Germany international was quoted in the Metro.

‘It’s caused unrest, and left us shaking our heads. It hasn’t been easy to concentrate on football because there’s only been one topic off the pitch.’
