Alexis Sanchez effect: Key Man Utd ace demands double his £200k-a-week wages

Amid speculation over how much Alexis Sanchez will earn at Old Trafford once his move to Man Utd is official, reports claim others aren’t impressed.

As noted by BBC Sport, the Chilean international is set to join United as Henrikh Mkhitaryan will move in the opposite direction and replace him at Arsenal.

With medicals still to sort out, it appears as though the deal could be completed in a matter of days, but the knock-on effect of signing Sanchez could cause Man Utd a problem or two.

According to The Mirror, Paul Pogba, via his agent Mino Raiola, will now demand that United offer him a better wage packet, going from his current £200,000-a-week deal to double it so he almost has parity with Sanchez at around £400k-a-week.

While it’s likely that the Premier League giants are able to splash out on their top players to keep them happy at Old Trafford, the bigger concern is over what it could spiral into if it leads to other individuals asking for more money if they know what Sanchez is earning.

As noted by The Mirror, former Man Utd star Norman Whiteside has raised the concern over the subject, as he is convinced that the players will talk about it and that in turn opens up the threat of a possible issue being caused with the disparity between wage packets.

It’s a lot of money to offer Sanchez but the deal appears to be on the brink of completion as per the BBC report above, and so United will just have to deal with the subsequent repercussions of the signing.

Nevertheless, if Jose Mourinho leads them to more silverware this season and beyond with key players playing integral roles in that success, then the investment will arguably be seen as a wise move all round.
