Man Utd may well be on the verge of signing Alexis Sanchez this month, but that hasn’t stopped the transfer talk continuing over several other targets.
Jose Mourinho will be focused on taking United back to the top of the tree, and while that may not happen this season with rivals Man City comfortably ahead in the Premier League title race, these possible signings could strengthen the Red Devils in the summer.
According to Diario Gol though, if United have ambitions of finally taking long-time target Gareth Bale to Old Trafford, they will have to splash out £80m on the Welshman, with the report claiming Mourinho is only willing to spend £50m at this stage.
That’s understandable given his injury record, but it remains to be seen whether or not a compromise can be reached between the two parties moving forward.
Elsewhere, Diario Gol also claim that Bale isn’t the only Real Madrid player that United are targeting, as Marco Asensio is also on their radar.
The Spaniard has struggled to entirely establish himself at the Bernabeu, and while competition for places would be fierce in Manchester too, he could have a better opportunity to take his career to the next level with a move to England.
The report claims that an offer has in fact already been made by Man Utd, and so it remains to be seen whether or not he can be prised away.
Meanwhile, United have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, who could be snapped up for €100m at the end of this season, as per the release clause in his contract.
Don Balón claim that Lionel Messi has told Barcelona not to sign the Frenchman, and so that could open the door for United to move into pole position to add another marquee name to their squad this summer.
