Man City ace Kevin De Bruyne has been a pivotal part of their progress under Pep Guardiola, and he’ll be at the Etihad for some time yet after signing a new long-term contract.

Particularly this season, the Belgian international has raised the bar as he has eight goals and 13 assists in 32 appearances for City as they march on in pursuit of major honours.

That’s not to say that the 26-year-old wasn’t impressive prior to that, as he bagged 23 assists last season, but as he continues to improve and mature, he has become a real driving force for his team in midfield.

In turn, both Guardiola and City will undoubtedly be delighted with the fact that he’s penned a new deal, with The Sun reporting that he will earn £260,000-a-week over the next five years.

The Premier League leaders remain on course for domestic glory this season, sitting 12 points ahead of nearest rivals Man Utd. Meanwhile, they’ll hope to advance to the League Cup final on Tuesday night while they’re also in the hunt for the FA Cup and Champions League.

De Bruyne will be key in helping them achieve their objectives this year, and at 26 years of age, he still has the peak years of his career ahead of him as he’ll look to establish himself as a stalwart in Manchester and a pillar of Guardiola’s success moving forward.

With 120 appearances for the club to his name already, he’ll be hoping for a successful partnership moving forward and with Guardiola at the helm, it will surely be possible.
