Real Madrid get huge boost in £175m pursuit, journalist raises Tottenham concern

It’s been claimed that Tottenham striker Harry Kane has told Real Madrid that he wants to join them, but they’ll have to splash out £175m for him.

The 24-year-old has rapidly established himself as one of the top strikers in Europe, scoring 128 goals in 194 games for Spurs, including 35 in 38 games last season which was his most prolific campaign to date.

Further, he’s got 29 in 29 so far this year, as he continues to lead Tottenham’s charge and cements his place as a pivotal figure in their plans moving forward.

However, reports in Spain have suggested that the England international is open to a move to Real Madrid, but Tottenham will demand £175m for their most prized asset.

The claim comes from journalist Eduardo Inda, who had this to say: “Kane has told Real Madrid that he wants to come,” Inda told El Chiringuito TV, as re-reported by The Express.

“Tottenham is going to renew and is going to ask for €200m (£175m).”

Given his importance to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Spurs will undoubtedly be desperate to convince Kane to stay with the club for as long as possible.

As he continues to establish himself as a club hero, coupled with the new stadium to look forward to next year as well as the progression made under Pochettino in the last two seasons, there are several strong arguments to make for him to stay.

However, Tottenham haven’t kicked on to the point of competing for major honours as of yet, and although their position in the La Liga table this season doesn’t reflect it, Madrid are undoubtedly perennial challengers for the biggest prizes in football.

That’s proven with three Champions League triumphs in the last four years, while Kane will have a prominent role at the Bernabeu as long-term changes are arguably needed with the Spanish giants.

Karim Benzema is struggling to score goals consistently, with just five in 21 outings so far this season, while Cristiano Ronaldo turns 33 next month.

Kane could be the key piece to be added, but many Tottenham fans will fairly take this latest claim with a pinch of salt as it’s unclear where or how Inda has managed to grab such an exclusive insight into Kane’s future.
