Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger explains how he’ll fix Henrikh Mkhitaryan after poor Manchester United spell

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has offered some insight into how he plans to help Henrikh Mkhitaryan get back to his best after a disappointing spell at Manchester United.

The Armenian playmaker never quite got going at Old Trafford despite some flashes of brilliance, particularly in the club’s success in the Europa League last season.

Mkhitaryan also shone at previous club Borussia Dortmund and seems a player who could be ideal for Arsenal when he’s at the top of his game.

Wenger has discussed his role in the Arsenal team and said he’ll try to work out where it went wrong for Mkhitaryan at United in a bid to make sure it doesn’t happen again during his time with the Gunners.

‘Yes of course, you worry about how much it as affected him,’ Wenger said of the player’s time in Manchester, as quoted by the Metro.

‘But as well it’s a new chance for him. What you want in life is a new chance, he gets a new chance to show his quality and I’m sure he will take it. I might have to analyse with him how it went, and how we can help him.’

On his best position, the manager added: ‘Personally I see him first wide, but I’m thinking about as well that for him it’s a possibility to play through the middle, or even deeper.’

Arsenal fans will be pleased to see the Alexis Sanchez saga finally come to an end after months of speculation surrounding their former star.

The Chile international was heading towards the end of his contract at the Emirates Stadium and could have left on a free in the summer, so landing Mkhitaryan from United as part of his departure to Old Trafford has to go down as pretty decent business.
