Alexis Sanchez clarifies rumours Thierry Henry told him to leave Arsenal for Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez has come out and denied that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry advised him to leave the club and seal a transfer to rivals Manchester United this January.

The Chile international’s move to Old Trafford was confirmed earlier this week after plenty of speculation, and it’s since been speculated that Henry may have had a hand in the deal.

This arose from Sanchez’s departing message on Instagram, which made reference to a conversation he’d had with the Frenchman.

However, it seems this was not a chat directly involving his future, and Sanchez has now tweeted to clarify that Henry never told him he should leave the Emirates Stadium.

The 29-year-old added that he would like to see Henry return to Arsenal as a coach in the future due to his love for the Gunners.

Henry also tweeted to say he didn’t tell Sanchez to leave and insists he had no idea the deal was happening until it became clear in the press.

It’s certainly not the best time to be a Gooner right now so it’s little surprise to see people looking for someone to blame.

However, it does seem unlikely that Henry would screw over his old club in such a way after such great service to them during his playing days.
