Manchester United new-boy Alexis Sanchez has reportedly urged his new club to seal the transfer of Samuel Umtiti from his former team Barcelona.
The Chile international is a big-name arrival from Arsenal this January and is already giving his new club advice on who to go after next in the transfer market.
According to Don Balon, Sanchez has pointed towards France international centre-back Umtiti as an ideal purchase for the Red Devils to help them tighten up at the back.
The 29-year-old may be justified in feeling unconvinced by the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in that position, while Eric Bailly has had his troubles with injuries.
Don Balon have linked United and rivals Manchester City with Umtiti in recent times, and he looks a potential bargain with a release clause of just £52million.
The 24-year-old has been a big hit at the Nou Camp since joining from Lyon last season, and also seems like he could be an ideal fit in the Premier League.
The Gambling Times have also recently linked Arsenal with an approach for Smalling, so it could be that United will need to replace him in defence anyway.
While Sanchez never played alongside Umtiti at Barca, it’s clear he keeps an eye on his former club and has been sufficiently impressed with what he’s seen from Umtiti.
Still, Don Balon claim Barca are working to tie Umtiti down to a new contract, so there may not be long for United to swoop for a transfer if they do decide to take Sanchez’s advice.
